Wedding: Tim and Pat {River Meadow Manor}

Wedding: Tim and Pat {River Meadow Manor}

Coming from a big family myself, it felt so familiar stepping into Pat’s room as she was getting ready. Mothers and mother-in-laws, cousins and friends, it was a cosy hug of activity. Tim and Pat’s beautiful outdoor ceremony looked so inviting, and ultrasoft duckling yellow fleece blankets was rolled up on the chairs in case the weather turned. I wasn’t prepared for the emotion of the day. As a second shooter, I don’t know the couple before the wedding and don’t always know their history (or them), but my eyes was constantly filled with tears as the couple and their family opened their hearts. Wedding: Gerhard and Michelle {Waterfall Cove}

Wedding: Gerhard and Michelle {Waterfall Cove}

When I think back on Gerhard and Michelle’s wedding, I can still hear the laughter and jokes that the bridal party was making all through the day. The boys even did really good fake laughter whenever the camera was pointed in their direction. Needless to say, that was exactly that great attitude that saved the day when it started raining just as they wanted to walk out of the chapel. Seeing as their guests were set to be entertained by the beautiful waterfall, outdoors, they were rushed inside the venue leaving little option for photos. Thankfully the rain stopped and we got some really great shots! Venue: Waterfall Cove Main photographer: Megan van Zyl...
Wedding: Rafique and Lee-Ann {Kleinkaap Boutique Hotel}

Wedding: Rafique and Lee-Ann {Kleinkaap Boutique Hotel}

Just the other day I posted Rafique and Lee-Ann’s airport engagement shoot as they wanted to keep the photos secret (they had a fabulous guestbook planned, so they didn’t want to spoil the surprise). Rafique and Lee-Ann met a few years ago at a club, when the gorgeous Lee-Ann walked past him. He knew he simply HAD to know her better and he walked up to her and asked her to call him, giving her his number. She didn’t have a cellphone yet and she told him that, so he gave her a handful of change and told her to “Bel my sommer van die tiekie boks, maar bel my net” and proceeded to give her about R70 in small change in her cupped hands. Now, a few years later they finally tied the knot in front of all their friends and family. These two are such special people, you can just see how much they love the people that surround them. Wedding: Martin and Debby {Oakfield Farm}

Wedding: Martin and Debby {Oakfield Farm}

So you’ve met Martin and Debby before with their Newtown graffiti shoot, but their wedding has finally arrived and I get to tell you a bit more about this fun couple. You could really see how much Martin and Debby valued friendships and how their friends feel about them – school friends that’s still close traveled far to be there for them. Friends are also how they met or so the story goes (as Debby tells it!): I had just moved to Johannesburg after finishing my studies in Cape Town and on a night out with friends, was introduced to Martin through a varsity friend. It just happens that this varsity friend was dating (and is now married to) one of Martin’s good friends at that time. He seemed quite shy but tried making conversation during the evening. By the end of the night he had asked if I would like to grab a coffee sometime, to which I said sure. The next day he had asked the same varsity friend for my number. We met as a group a week later, where, after a stolen kiss in the rain, is where the story begins 🙂 They’ve traveled to quite a number of places in the 6 years they’ve been together and that’s how they came up with the idea of their table names – all the places they’ve been together. The fans, menus and doodle pads were created by the creative Martin and echo’d details throughout the wedding. Thanks for letting me capture your special day Martin and Debs and I wish you lots of happy safe travels...
Wedding: Allan and Megan {Morrells}

Wedding: Allan and Megan {Morrells}

It feels as if I start every single wedding post with the same gushing sentiment … “It was the most gorgeous venue!”, but I seem to be extremely lucky to have seen some of the most gorgeous venues in Gauteng in the past few months. Morrells are definitely one of those world class venues that makes your eyes hungry to see more. The French country charm is complemented by the staff’s absolute drive to repeat details throughout the night (watch out for the bunnies!). The perfect order in the gardens and even in the buildings just made my heart melt. Now onto the couple – what amazing people they are! Megan was the most beautiful bride in my favourite Maggie Sottero dress and it fitted her as if it was made specially for her. Allan was a bit nervous at the start (as he wanted to do everything perfectly by the book), but loosened up surrounded by his closest friends and family. Wedding: Freddie and Mariske {Galagos}

Wedding: Freddie and Mariske {Galagos}

Freddie and Mariske got married at Galagos Country Estate, a real hidden gem.   Before the ceremony, the boys had a braai and a few beers, just to relax (South African style). The ceremony was held in a black wattle forest, with such a rustic charm. Enjoy! Venue: Galagos Country Estate Main photographer: Isabel Jordaan...
