Wedding: Rafique and Lee-Ann {Kleinkaap Boutique Hotel}

Just the other day I posted Rafique and Lee-Ann’s airport engagement shoot as they wanted to keep the photos secret (they had a fabulous guestbook planned, so they didn’t want to spoil the surprise). Rafique and Lee-Ann met a few years ago at a club, when the gorgeous Lee-Ann walked past him. He knew he simply HAD to know her better and he walked up to her and asked her to call him, giving her his number. She didn’t have a cellphone yet and she told him that, so he gave her a handful of change and told her to “Bel my sommer van die tiekie boks, maar bel my net” and proceeded to give her about R70 in small change in her cupped hands. Now, a few years later they finally tied the knot in front of all their friends and family. These two are such special people, you can just see how much they love the people that surround them. 5 tips to plan your outfits for your engagement shoot

5 tips to plan your outfits for your engagement shoot

Your engagement shoots or e-shoot is the perfect time to show your personalities or interests and most of all a time to have some fun. This does leave the choices wide open and tend to confuse some couples. When you plan your outfits, try and keep the following in mind: 1. Match don’t clash The days of wearing matching blue jeans and white t-shirts are over. There are lots of ways to match than wearing the same outfit, so think of wearing complimenting colours or even the same pattern to tie your outfit together. 2. Keep your location in mind Your location is only a backdrop to your session, but you also don’t want to wear similar colours and melt into the background or match. If your location is loud and colourful (like the graffiti photo above) you would either want to keep your colours neutral or do individual like Martin and Debby decided to go. 3. Wear something you are comfortable in You are going to spend at least an hour, sitting, standing and walking so make sure that you are comfortable or used to the type of clothes and shoes that you’re wearing. Nothing like pinching shoes to ruin the expression on your face. 4. Keep the season and time of day in mind In autumn and spring the temperatures can fluctuate or change drastically very quickly. Even summer thunderstorm rolling in can mess with the best laid plans. Make sure that you have a light cardigan available that suit your outfit or plan to layer your outfits so you can take off some layers if you’re...

Engagement shoot: Rafique and Lee-Ann {Wonderboom airport, Pretoria}

Sometimes, in life, you meet people that feel like instant friends and Rafique and Lee-Ann was one of those couples. Lots of belly laughs and stories and the most fun you can have on a Valentine’s saturday morning. What I didn’t know when I met them, is that Rafique Hassim is a very good football (soccer) player – played for teams like Moroka Swallows and Atlanta Silverbacks. I wouldn’t say that however, he’s a grounded, straight-arrow and really hope that all sports stars in our country could be like him! That is actually how Rafique and Lee-Ann’s story started – he saw a pretty girl and she had NO idea who he was, but I’ll tell you more about their story of how they met when I publish their wedding. When we started discussing their engagement shoot, Lee-Ann mentioned that she would love to have a shoot at an Airport and after I phoned around my hubby Renier came to the rescue. Thank you Flitecare for allowing us to shoot there, without you this shoot would not have been...
Wedding: Martin and Debby {Oakfield Farm}

Wedding: Martin and Debby {Oakfield Farm}

So you’ve met Martin and Debby before with their Newtown graffiti shoot, but their wedding has finally arrived and I get to tell you a bit more about this fun couple. You could really see how much Martin and Debby valued friendships and how their friends feel about them – school friends that’s still close traveled far to be there for them. Friends are also how they met or so the story goes (as Debby tells it!): I had just moved to Johannesburg after finishing my studies in Cape Town and on a night out with friends, was introduced to Martin through a varsity friend. It just happens that this varsity friend was dating (and is now married to) one of Martin’s good friends at that time. He seemed quite shy but tried making conversation during the evening. By the end of the night he had asked if I would like to grab a coffee sometime, to which I said sure. The next day he had asked the same varsity friend for my number. We met as a group a week later, where, after a stolen kiss in the rain, is where the story begins 🙂 They’ve traveled to quite a number of places in the 6 years they’ve been together and that’s how they came up with the idea of their table names – all the places they’ve been together. The fans, menus and doodle pads were created by the creative Martin and echo’d details throughout the wedding. Thanks for letting me capture your special day Martin and Debs and I wish you lots of happy safe travels...
