Engagement Stephan and Marleen {Blaauwklippen}

It’s a special kind of something to be involved in a important life event of friends. This was one of those moments! Stephan has an exact idea what he wanted to do to make the engagement special for Marleen and weeks in advance he planned everything down to the exact detail. To be there and see that massive smile on Marleen’s face when he asked her was pure gold!...
Engagement: Deepesh and Shinu {Oakfield Farm}

Engagement: Deepesh and Shinu {Oakfield Farm}

Deepesh and Shinu’s engagement was one for the books! It really was such a colourful celebration of their betrothal and as big (if not bigger) than most weddings. As Deepesh and Shinu is getting married in India early next year, their engagement party was especially for those that wouldn’t be able to make the celebration with their family and friends in India. It really was amazing to see how they value the people in their lives – even Shinu’s first teacher in Kinshasa was there as she held a special place in Shinu’s heart! Birthday getaway: Longview ranch, Dullstroom

As I get older (as we all tend to go), I find it more important to spend quality time with my family and friends. I’m lucky, I’ve got lots of family to go around. Last year Renier and myself escaped to Longview ranch for a weekend and what a weekend it was! A cosy rock cottage on a hill overlooking the surrounding hills and valleys. A perfect spot to rest and recharge. The owner, Lydette, was kind enough to show us the other accommodation options on the farm. Wattle creek caught our eye as an awesome option as it can house 20 people in separate chalets. Fast forward to my birthday and that’s exactly what we did, went to Wattle creek. It was the perfect weekend of relaxation, fishing and fireside chatting. At times, my camera laid forgotten as I spend some time with my peeps and it was exactly what I needed! Here’s a few shots of the weekend....
Wedding: Tim and Pat {River Meadow Manor}

Wedding: Tim and Pat {River Meadow Manor}

Coming from a big family myself, it felt so familiar stepping into Pat’s room as she was getting ready. Mothers and mother-in-laws, cousins and friends, it was a cosy hug of activity. Tim and Pat’s beautiful outdoor ceremony looked so inviting, and ultrasoft duckling yellow fleece blankets was rolled up on the chairs in case the weather turned. I wasn’t prepared for the emotion of the day. As a second shooter, I don’t know the couple before the wedding and don’t always know their history (or them), but my eyes was constantly filled with tears as the couple and their family opened their hearts. Wedding: Gerhard and Michelle {Waterfall Cove}

Wedding: Gerhard and Michelle {Waterfall Cove}

When I think back on Gerhard and Michelle’s wedding, I can still hear the laughter and jokes that the bridal party was making all through the day. The boys even did really good fake laughter whenever the camera was pointed in their direction. Needless to say, that was exactly that great attitude that saved the day when it started raining just as they wanted to walk out of the chapel. Seeing as their guests were set to be entertained by the beautiful waterfall, outdoors, they were rushed inside the venue leaving little option for photos. Thankfully the rain stopped and we got some really great shots! Venue: Waterfall Cove Main photographer: Megan van Zyl...
